Junna Ige bio
Junna Ige is a former principal dancer at Ballet San Jose and Orlando Ballet in the United States; and Ballet de Monterrey in Mexico.
At age 5, Junna began her training at Ecole Yokohama and later joined Japan Junior Ballet and Asami Maki School in Japan. In 2004, she received a national scholarship to train abroad at the Hamburg Ballet School in Germany. Later in 2007, she graduated from Staatliche Hochschule für Musik, and performed as a trainee with Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe. Junna was also a world finalist in the 2010 International Ballet Competition hosted in Jackson, Mississippi.
Junna’s repertoire with Ballet San Jose includes Kitri in Wes Chapman’s Don Quixote, Giselle in Alicia Alonzo’s Giselle, Cinderella in Ben Stevenson’s Cinderella, Marie in Karen Gabay’s The Nutcracker, Maria in Dennis Nahat’s The Nutcracker, Principal Dancer in “Theme and Variation”, “My One and Only” in Who Cares?, Principal Dancer in “Allegro Brillante”, and Waltz Girl in Serenade by George Balanchine, as well as roles in Dwight Rhoden’s Evermore, Jorma Elo’s Glow-Stop and Annabelle Lopez’s Prism.
Her performances at Ballet de Monterrey include the roles of Christine in Albert Mendez’s El Fantasma de la Opera, Odette/Odile in Swan Lake, Nikiya in La Bayadere, Kitri in Don Quixote, Lisset in Alicia Alonzo’s La Fille Mal Gardeé, and Wendy in Septime Webre’s Peter Pan. At Orlando Ballet, she performed the roles of Aurora in Sleeping Beauty, Christine in Jorden Morris’s Moulin Rouge, and Tinkerbell in Jorden Morris’s Peter Pan.
Outside of ballet, Junna has certified Pilates Mat through Power Pilates, Gyrotonic Foundation 1, and most recently the Lolita’s Legacy Program.
